Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Officers then discovered numerous other smeared cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests indicate the substance was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; investigators are presently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they added.
Local authorities stated they were working "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the community for information.
A senior representative commented the incident made him without words and had to be solved quickly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at individuals of migrant background in 2020.
